The Equinox and the CR-V offer seemingly similar standard 1.5L turbo engines under the hood. How these engines perform, though, is where these models begin to differ.

The Equinox’s turbo engine makes an impressive 203 lb-ft of torque, resulting in excellent pickup and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when the vehicle is properly equipped. Plus, you can opt for an available switchable all-wheel drive system that lets you choose between FWD and AWD modes.

You won’t get nearly as much power and capability with the CR-V. With just 179 lb-ft of torque to offer, you’ll only be able to move up to 1,500 pounds with the proper equipment. You can opt for an available Real Time AWD system with Intelligent Control™ but you won’t be able to swap out of AWD in order to boost fuel economy.
