Equinox vs CR-V: Performance & Capability

Chevy EquinoxThe Equinox and the CR-V offer seemingly similar standard 1.5L turbo engines under the hood. How these engines perform, though, is where these models begin to differ.

The Equinox’s turbo engine makes an impressive 203 lb-ft of torque, resulting in excellent pickup and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds when the vehicle is properly equipped. Plus, you can opt for an available switchable all-wheel drive system that lets you choose between FWD and AWD modes.

You won’t get nearly as much power and capability with the CR-V. With just 179 lb-ft of torque to offer, you’ll only be able to move up to 1,500 pounds with the proper equipment. You can opt for an available Real Time AWD system with Intelligent Control™ but you won’t be able to swap out of AWD in order to boost fuel economy.

Chevy Equinox vs Honda CR-V: Comfort

Chevy EquinoxAs SUVs, the Equinox and the CR-V offer ample cargo space for all of your cargo items on top of five spacious seats. You’ll get around 40 inches of legroom in the front seat of both models which is ideal for commuters and parents with active kids.

While the Honda CR-V does offer slightly more rear legroom than the Equinox, it can’t compete with the premium comfort options of the Equinox including:

  • Dual-zone automatic climate control.
  • Heated front & rear outboard seats.
  • Ventilated front seats to combat the heat.
  • Perforated leather seating surfaces.

You’ll miss out on most of these features in the CR-V except for available heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control.

2021 Equinox vs 2021 CR-V: Technologies

Tech is one of the top priorities of today’s SUV shoppers, and these two models have a lot to offer. Both the Equinox and the CR-V provide a touchscreen infotainment system with all kinds of connectivity options including Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay™, and Android Auto™.

Use these technologies to send hands-free text messages, follow turn-by-turn navigation, and stream your favorite audio through each model’s respective sound system. However, your tunes may sound better through the available Bose® premium sound system of the Equinox—something the CR-V can’t give you.

The Equinox’s touchscreen display can also be used to take advantage of the available HD Surround Vision Camera system. Get a bird’s-eye view from the driver’s seat for optimal parking and trailer hitching. The best comparative feature you’ll get with the CR-V is a limited-view Multi-Angle Rearview Camera.

Which 2021 SUV Comes out on Top?

While the Honda CR-V has a handful of exciting features to offer, it can’t compete with the comprehensive lineup of the 2021 Chevy Equinox. Experience its capability, high-end comfort, and advanced technology features with our team at Mark Wahlberg Chevy of Worthington.
