Chevy Silverado 3500 Overview

The Silverado 3500 comes with some worthwhile upgrades for the 2021 model year. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration are now available with wireless functionality, and you get some standard USB ports for charging and connectivity on the base trim level. This year also offers the Z71 Sport and Chrome Sport appearance packages.

There are several trim levels available with the 3500. There’s the base Work Truck, the midrange Custom, LT, and LTZ, and the luxurious High Country. The base engine is a 6.6-liter gas V8 with 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. You can upgrade to a 6.6-liter diesel V8 for true power, which kicks up the horsepower to 445 and generates an astounding 910 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are set up with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Hauling and Towing Capabilities

When properly equipped with the diesel engine and towing package that gives you a wiring hitch and extra technology features to control your trailer, the Silverado 3500 is capable of towing 36,000 pounds of trailer, vehicle, flatbed, or equipment weight. It also has a maximum payload of up to 7,442 pounds in the bed. That's enough to handle just about any job you could ever want to take on. The sheer level of torque and horsepower also make sure you can blaze trails off-road with the best of them when you choose the four-wheel-drive powertrain.

Driving Experience

Despite being built as a truck that can handle hard work and harder play, the Chevy Silverado 3500 is also built for comfort and luxury. It has athletic steering as well as authoritative acceleration and braking, and the suspension does a great job of keeping the ride smooth whether on the road or off.
