Standard ECOTEC® 2.5L Engine
Standardly, the 2020 Chevy Blazer is equipped with an ECOTEC® 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. This engine was designed with various fuel saving technologies to assist in maximizing fuel economy, including Variable Valve Timing, Spark Ignition Direct Injection technology, and Stop/Start technology.
The latter feature automatically turns off the engine when you come to a complete stop, so you aren’t wasting gas while you’re idling. Then, when it’s time to go, it turns the engine back on. Thanks to this technology, and the other features of this engine, it’s able to achieve an EPA-estimated 27 MPG on the highway.
One more feature you’ll get to maximize fuel economy is the Traction Select System. This system provides five selectable drive modes to give you the best grip on the road. However, when all-wheel drive or off-road capability isn’t needed, you can opt for FWD mode, which gives you the most fuel-efficient ratings.
Available 2.0L Turbo Engine
Another engine offered by the Chevy Blazer is a 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine that makes an impressive 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This power does not come at the expense of the fuel economy when the Blazer is equipped with this engine, though.
Like the standard engine for this model, this engine also comes with Variable Valve Timing, Spark Ignition Direct Injection, and Stop/Start technology. Plus, it works together with a 9-speed automatic transmission. With so many gear ratios to work with, this system can save you fuel at any speed.
Available 3.6L V6 Engine
The 2020 Chevy Blazer’s second available engine is a 3.6L V6 engine that was born to perform. This engine, which also works together with the nine-speed automatic transmission, pumps out a whopping 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.
With this kind of power, this engine is able to give the Blazer the capability to move up to 4,500 pounds of trailer weight when the vehicle is properly equipped. However, being able to move your family boat or pop-up camper isn’t all that this engine has to offer. You’ll also get to enjoy an EPA-estimated 26 highway MPG.
